Garner Trucking is hitting an incredible milestone in 2025—65 years in business! What started in 1960 as a small, family-run operation with just one truck has grown into a nationally recognized leader in the trucking industry. Founded by Vern and Jean Garner, Garner Trucking was built on hard work, dedication, and a commitment to providing excellent service, values that continue to drive our success as we celebrate our 65th anniversary.

From the very beginning, Vern was out on the road hauling loads, while Jean managed the office from their kitchen table at their home in Findlay, Ohio. What started as a contract with Landmark to spread lime on local farms soon grew into something much bigger. Today, Garner Trucking stands as a proud, woman-owned business led by their middle daughter, Sherri Garner Brumbaugh. She took the reins as President & CEO in 2008, continuing the family legacy with the same passion and dedication that her parents instilled from the start.

“I’m a teacher by trade but a trucker by heritage,” says Sherri. “The trucking industry has always been in my life, but it’s been my career for 34 years! I’m blessed to be part of a legacy.” Under her leadership, Garner Trucking has continued to grow and adapt, embracing cutting-edge technology, championing driver education programs, and staying focused on customer satisfaction.

Through the decades, Garner has earned a reputation for safety, reliability, and sustainability. But at its heart, it’s still a family business that values the people who have made it all possible. The team—from drivers, technicians, and office staff—has been instrumental in shaping the company’s success.
"Findlay and Hancock County have been a wonderful place to establish our business," Sherri reflects. "From our humble beginnings with just one truck, we’ve grown into what some would call an award-winning trucking company."
As the company looks to the future, the third generation of leadership is already making its mark. Sherri's middle son, Ben Brumbaugh, is ready to carry on the family tradition and his Grandfather’s legacy. With 14 years of hands-on experience in the shop and currently serving as the Safety and Maintenance Director, Ben is gaining valuable insight into the operations. His journey through different departments will ensure he’s well-equipped to lead Garner Trucking into the next era.

As Garner Trucking celebrates this milestone, the company is looking back with gratitude and forward with excitement. Throughout the year, we will be honoring the incredible contributions of past and present employees and sharing the stories that have helped shape the company into what it is today. From spotlighting long-time drivers to thanking loyal customers, the celebration will highlight the people who have been part of the journey.
Cheers to 65 years of trucking excellence—and many more miles to go!
